School readiness camp prepares children

DANVILLE - Danville Public Schools is hosting a free School Readiness Camp for children who will begin Kindergarten in September and have little or no preschool experience. The camp will help prepare children for their first school experience.

The camp begins June 16, 2014, and ends July 10, 2014. Camp hours are Monday - Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Free transportation and lunch will be provided.

"Children entering Kindergarten without any prior preschool experience often struggle to keep up. The School Readiness Camp is an opportunity for those children to practice social interactions, school routines, and pre-literacy activities, which will help them on the first day of school and beyond," said Lou Ann Long, principal of Northside Preschool.

The deadline to apply is Thursday, June 5. For more information, contact Northside Preschool at (434) 773-8301.
